The Coming War Expansion

‘’Dmitri Medvedev, a former president of Russia who is now a senior Kremlin security adviser, has suggested a more ominous scenario, hinting on Friday at the possibility of deliberate Russian action in retaliation for the West’s support for Ukraine.
Mr. Medvedev, who often delights in stirring panic in an effort to curb support for Ukraine, said in a message on social media that “citizens of EU countries” were paying the price after their leaders “unilaterally entered a war with Russia.”
“So be vigilant and don’t be surprised by anything,” he warned. “The peaceful sleep is over.”—NYT 5/31/2026
This quote is in reference to Friday's Russian drone that accidentally hit an apartment building in Romania. It was shot down by the Ukrainians, veered off course and boom!
Well this was an accident but it portends things to come. Medvedev is not delighting and stirring up panic. He is giving NATO a serious warning that their military support of Ukraine has qualitatively mutated into active participation in the war against Russia. They are supplying advanced weapons, engaging in military planning by training Ukrainian in the use of these weapons, and their intelligence services are helping them pick targets inside Russia.
Whether NATO likes it or not this makes them subject to military attacks on the factories making these weapons and on the supply chains delivering them to Ukraine. NATO knows what it is doing. It is baiting the Russians. These weapons are used against targets in the Russian homeland. NATO targets will be hit with conventional weapons. NATO then will have a choice to agree to a cease-fire and negotiated settlement or they will have to attack Russia in response.
Russia has made it clear it will respond with low intensity tactical nuclear weapons if NATO attacks it. The US will have to decide whether we're going to have World War III or the West reins in it's completely bankrupt policies with respect to the seriousness of Russia's intentions to protect what it considers it's existential interests. This all began with NATO expansion and the 2014 coup in Ukraine which installed anti-Russian leaders supported by the US.
World War I came about by these little escalations one by one between the central powers and the allies until they got out of control and blossomed into four years of mutual destruction. It's not too late to stop the coming escalations that current NATO policies are leading to. This is not a question of who is right or wrong, but whether we want a nuclear war or not and we will have one if we keep poking Russia in the eye.
