Taiwan, another Ukraine?

"China sent a force of warships and aircraft into waters and airspace near Taiwan on Friday, defying international [i.e., the US and its allies] criticism of its military exercises and demonstrating the country’s growing appetite for confrontation [ie., response to us provocations re the legal status of Taiwan and using it as a de facto military ally against China] over the island that it claims as its territory" [ the UN as well as the US itself recognizes that Taiwan is a part of China]. NYT

As if the US hasn't enough problems, it is attempting to turn Taiwan into a floating Ukraine off of the mainland's shores. China and the government in Taiwan have to solve their problems themselves, hopefully peacefully and perhaps with help from the UN. International law, such as it is, recognizes Taiwan as a province of China-- occupied by the losing side of the Chinese civil war that brought the CPC to power on the mainland. Eventually this province will have to be reunited with the rest of the country. If it decides to go its own way and the US jumps in and supports this and threatens military support of Taiwan (as it has) it is just begging the Chinese government to launch an invasion to occupy its province before it becomes too strong to do so. It is the same scenario the US used with the Ukraine and NATO that provoked the Russian invasion. Our MSM is already ramping up an anti-Chinese public opinion by its provocative coverage (as the fake news examples I put in brackets above indicates). Without a mass based peace movement in the US nothing will prevent the US from driving the world towards a major war. Cooler heads will, I think, prevail in China, but if not the US has only itself to blame.
