Trump and the Chemical Poisoning of America

"Chemicals experts outside the industry say the lobbying efforts on TCE demonstrate the strategies that companies with toxic products have used for decades: sowing doubt about toxicology science, stalling regulation and wielding influence with political officials through campaign donations."
This is an important article as it shows 1. The industry is suppressing info about poisonous and cancer causing chemicals killing and sickening the American people; 2. The EPA is full of chemical industry drones appointed by the Trump regime who are subverting regulations to prevent damage to the health and well being of the American people so that toxic chemicals can remain in the environment.
Conclusions that can be drawn from this article are: 1. The Trump regime is at war with science; 2. The Trump regime is a clear and present danger to the health and well being of the American people, including his own suicidal and/or self-harming supporters; 3. Republican and other lawmakers accepting bribes ("campaign contributions") from the chemical industry are betraying their constituents 4. Trump and Pence should be impeached for openly defying their oaths of office and refusing to defend the Constitution which explicitly states the laws and procedures it creates are intended "to promote the general welfare" of "We the American people" -- by subverting the mission of the EPA (and every other regulatory agency set up under the Constitution to promote the general welfare of the American people) Trump/Pence (as well as those supporting them with the exception of the those in the general population who are blameless due to their invincible ignorance) are the greatest threat to American democracy since the slave holding secessionists of the nineteenth century.
As an aside I note that Trump drones in the EPA are also downplaying evidence of the mutation and destruction of fetal life forms (AKA "babies") by chemical toxins in the environment thus showing that their doctrine of "the right to life" does not apply when the capitalist profit motive conflicts with it. The rallying cry of the American people fighting back against the Trump regime in the 2020 elections should be "For the Constitution, Down with Trump, Treason, and Treachery!”

Congress Fiddles While Planet Burns

We are told Nero fiddled while Rome burned, apocryphal, but we know our Congress is fiddling away on the Mueller Report, insignificant in the grand scheme of things, while capitalism destroys the planet and the US gears up for more war and pollution (Putin doesn't control our elections and Trump is not a mole for the FIS (formerly the KGB). "The biomass of wild mammals has fallen by 82%, natural ecosystems have lost about half their area and a million species are at risk of extinction – all largely as a result of human actions [i.e., the capitalist world market-tr], said the study, compiled over three years by more than 450 scientists and diplomats."

North Korea: Economy Faltering! (Or Is It?)

A real mess of a propaganda article basically reporting the views of “defectors,” “former CIA analysts,” “South Korean sources", and “economists (?)” where a "faltering" economy is due not to being state-run but to outside sanctions placed on it and which also reveals more consumer goods available, sports cars, no diminishment in Kim's ability to rule and finally concludes, after many nasty comments and insinuations, “For now, there is no sign that the economy is reaching a breaking point, according to defectors in touch with their relatives in the North. The prices of rice, corn and fuel remain stable, and the won is holding steady against the American dollar and Chinese renminbi.” A strange type of “faltering” where there is no sign of a breaking point, prices remain stable, and the currency is holding up against those of the US and China. What would successfully holding out against US attempts to sabotage the economy look like?

Russiagate Myth Expoded!

Now that "this massive investigation simply did not establish any of the conspiracy theories that huge parts of the Democratic Party, the intelligence community and the U.S. media spent years encouraging the public to believe" has been released, even as redacted, I hope it puts "Russiagate" and all the CIA-FBI disinformation campaign against Putin and the Kremlin with regards to collusion to bed.

Robert Mueller Did Not Merely Reject the Trump-Russia Conspiracy Theories. He Obliterated Them.Certain facts will never go away no matter how much media elites deny them. That Mueller charged no Americans with election conspiracy crimes is the most fatal.

Capitalism Shortens Lifespan of former East Germans

"The biggest setbacks occurred in East Germany in the aftermath of the German reunification. Here the socioeconomic composition of the population in retirement changed dramatically. The share of men falling into the lowest status group almost doubled from 2005 to 2016." Well, well, capitalism does kill. Poverty does have a negative influence on health and under Communism the socialist state did not allow its population to fall into such low standards that their health and well being  degenerated resulting in early death as there was no such thing as mass unemployment and poorly paid jobs (pay in capitalist and socialist countries can't be directly measured as in socialist countries the state covers health care, determines working conditions, subsidizes housing costs and the cost of food, provides free education for all, etc.). Unfortunately, the communist officialdom was too tight-assed as regards freedom of expression and participatory democracy (top-down control, elections by slates, etc., a common failure left over from Stalinism) and this alienated the working class and left it vulnerable to capitalist propaganda. Many workers in the former socialist countries are now suffering buyers remorse and former tight-assed parties will need to repackage their product to defeat the ultra-right and fascist movements spawned by the re-emergence of capitalism.

Income and social status have an increasing effect on life expectancy in Germany. On average, men with very low retirement pay die five years earlier than those who are much better off. Poverty shortens life.

Pelosi Democrats Out To Rig The Primaries

The bias of the NYT is evident in this passage: "The open hostilities are just the latest in the rising tensions between an experienced party establishment focusing on what is possible in the short run and a group of young liberals chafing at such restraint." Here the progressive Democrats are portrayed as "chafing" at "what is possible." The truth is the Pelosi conservative supporters of monopoly capitalism are trying to shut down the progressives by rigging the Democratic primaries in favor of the conservative incumbents. They have learned nothing from the exposure of the Clinton gang's rigging of the nomination process against Sanders in 2016 which was the main cause of the Trump victory in that millions of disillusioned voters didn't bother to vote in 2016 which allowed Trump to squeak by to victory in the swing states. Pelosi Democrats, wedded to the conservative establishment's traditional bipartisanship, would rather lose elections than see progressives in power.

Trump's War on Children

'"The USDA rollback of school nutrition standards goes against all science based evidence of what children need to be healthy and thrive and be healthy in school," said Liz Accles, the executive director of Community Food Advocates.' In Trump's relentless war on the environment, endangered species, immigrants, women's rights, minority groups, and the working class he has now turned his malevolent attention to school children as he and his Republican base understand that healthy thriving children of the working people, poor and repressed become healthy thriving adults and healthy thriving adults understand what sort of scumbags run the Republican Party and push "conservative" policies favoring the 1% (whose children alone deserve to be healthy and thriving) and these adults will eventually throw these morally degenerate monsters onto the slag heap of history along with their fascist and Confederate progenitors and other sociopaths that capitalism needs to maintain itself. MAGA Dump Trump!

The Truth Behind Sanctions

“Sanctions are one of America’s most powerful tools for pressuring rogue nations. Mr. Mnuchin has taken great pride in bolstering Treasury’s sanctions capacity and often says that he spends half of his time working on sanctions matters.” Really? “Rogue nations” turn out to be any nation that doesn’t kowtow to US demands. The rest of the world actually thinks we are the rogue nation undercutting treaties and agreements we have entered into, as well disregarding UN Security Council Resolutions we don’t agree with, regarding climate change, Iran, the Palestinian issues, the Golan Heights, the Cuban blockade. invading Iraq, etc. All with the excuse of nonexistent threats to “national security” — as if there is any real threat to the security of the world’s greatest military power from small countries just trying to get by and protect themselves from our lust for power and control.
“It would be a mistake to interpret the policy as being one of a step by step approach, where we release some sanctions in return for piecemeal steps toward denuclearization” said the administration official, who spoke to reporters on the condition of anonymity. “That is not a winning formula and it is not the president’s strategy.” Actually, step by step is the only winning policy as North Korea is not dumb enough to accede to all our demands before we agree to give them anything in return. Our policies are designed to fail so we can have enemies to justify our bloated military budget.

“President Trump likes Chairman Kim, and he doesn’t think these sanctions will be necessary,” said Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary.

Philosophy and Anti-Semitism

It is always dangerous to project our values and current opinions back upon thinkers of the past and hold them accountable to standards they could not have been aware of. This article does, I think, too much of that and also relies too much on secondary sources rather than the primary writings of these past thinkers. When we teach them today we tend to pass over their errors and emphasize the positive philosophical accomplishments achieved by them. With the possible exception of Heidegger, I really don't see that any of the mistaken views of these other past thinkers, especially Hume, Voltaire, and Kant have influenced current expressions of anti-Semitism or that they are particularly quoted by anti-Semites to justify their beliefs or that contemporary practitioners of the teaching of the history of philosophy are contributing to expressions of anti-Semitism as they are occurring today, which have their sources in contemporary political and ethnic conflicts we are all well aware of and have origins remote from the academy and the history of the Enlightenment.
